The 2017 London Auto Show kicked off on Thursday 4th May at the Battersea Park and this time, there were more cars on display compared to the last year’s show. Although, the London Auto Show is organised comparatively on a lower scale compared to Geneva Auto Show and Frankfurt Auto Show, nevertheless, it provides the Londoners a great opportunity to experience some impressive luxury and rare automobiles.
This year, the huge list of exhibitors included Rolls-Royce, Land Rover, Infiniti, Volkswagen, Maserati, London Taxi Company, BMW, SsangYong, Vauxhall, MINI, Porsche, Alfa Romeo, Lamborghini, Tesla, Aston Martin, Skoda, Bentley, Chevrolet, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan and more. Moreover, the event was attended by some of the very popular celebrities of the industry encompassing Sir Stirling Moss, Ben Collins, Nigel Mansel and Tiff Needell.
Among some of the notable vehicle launches were the Lamborghini Aventador S carrying a 750 bhp V12 engine with a top speed of 217 mph. The Aventador S will be launched in the UK at a starting price of £270,000.
MG Cars (Morris Garage) displayed its new MG SX SUV, which was also revealed recently at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show. The MG SX SUV will be available in two engine options i.e. a 1.0L and a 1.5L, and will be launched later this year in the UK. The pricing details have not been published yet, but reports indicate it will start at £13,000.
David Brown Engineering Limited also previewed two cars at the show. The first was a MINI Remastered, costing around £75,000, and the other was the Speedback GT boasting a 5-litre twin-scroll supercharged V8 engine developing 510 bhp. It could hit the 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds.
Rolls-Royce made its entry showcasing its Rolls-Royce Ghost Special Black Badge edition, wearing a price tag of £250,000.
The new BMW Alpina B4S also made its UK debut at the show. It is based on the BMW M4 and carries a 3.0L six-cylinder engine with Alpina turbochargers cranking out 440 hp and 660 Nm of torque. The Alpina B4S will be capable of sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in just 4 seconds.
Aston Martin displayed its brand-new Valkyrie hypercar concept at the show prior to its debut later this year.
The ‘World Car of the Year’, the Jaguar F-Pace was also exhibited along with its recently won two trophies. The Jaguar F-Pace is designed and built in the United Kingdom.
The London Taxi company revealed the famous TX4 London Taxi, which will soon be replaced by new and modern plug-in hybrid taxis with zero emissions.
The newly launched Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport was also on display. The car recently hit the UK dealerships carrying a 1.5L four-cylinder petrol engine which yields 138 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. The price of the Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport starts at £17,910.
Other vehicles on display included Jaguar E-Type lightweight, Mitsuoka Roadster, Kahn Vengeance, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Clive Sutton Ford Mustang CS700, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Alpina A110, McLaren 570S, Liberty Walk McLaren, Volkswagen Golf R and Infiniti Q30 and more.
